View descriptionShare

From setting a world speed record for a solar powered vehicle to creating the fastest pieces of networking hardware on the planet. David is co-founder and CTO (Chief Technology Officer) at Metamako, a cutting-edge provider of high-performance network solutions. Prior to founding Metamako, David gained a wealth of experience working in and for electronic trading firms, optimising their network structures, network performance, and building performance hardware, gateware and software. He has a PhD in Operating Systems from the University of NSW, Australia, looking at the effect of frequency scaling on power and energy usage. Outside of work, David spends time designing, building and racing high-performance solar powered cars in international events and formerly held the Guinness record for the world’s fastest solar powered vehicle. ‘Metamako’ is an Australian based hardware/software firm. They are located in Sydney and have a team of 60 people with offices in Sydney, London, New York, Tokyo, Chicago. Most of our team has come out of the high frequency trading market, which basically is a type of trading that relies on algorithms and high performance networking hardware and applications. This type of hardware allows trading firms to execute transactions on stock exchanges faster than humans. The response time to executing trades is measured in nanoseconds and microseconds. (nanoseconds being billionths of a second) Metamako has one of the fastest pieces of networking hardware on the planet). In a nutshell, the world's leading high frequency trading firms use Metamako to gain an edge and beat other trading firms to execute trades, and essentially make their money from trading.
