Mohsin Hamid has written three novels, Moth Smoke, The Reluctant Fundamentalist which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia, as well as a book of essays, Discontent and Its Civilizations. He has been a winner or finalist of more than 20 awards, and his books have been featured on bestseller lists, adapted for the cinema, and translated into 35 languages. In this podcast from his 2015 Sydney Writers' Festival Opening Address, Mohsin explores the ways humanity's traditional sources of solace – family, community and religion – are being disrupted.
