Behrouz Boochani: No Friend but the Mountains

View descriptionShare

Winner of the 2019 Victorian Premier's Prize for Non-Fiction and the Victorian Prize for Literature, Behrouz Boochani is a Kurdish–Iranian journalist and refugee who has been detained by our government on Manus Island since 2013. Behrouz spoke live from Port Moresby about his powerful and expressive memoir, No Friend but the Mountains, which was laboriously tapped out on a mobile phone and translated from Farsi by Omid Tofighian. Speaking with journalist Richard Cooke, Omid and Behrouz talk about literature, creativity and the Manus Prison Theory.
