Quantum computing holds tremendous promise as a way to tackle some of the world’s toughest computational problems. In recent years, significant progress has been made on the hardware side, with multiple technologies maturing in parallel and multi-round real-time quantum error correction being demonstrated for the first time late last year. Yet, as we build quantum machines capable of processing information in fundamentally new ways, it becomes increasingly clear that developing the software to harness their power is equally critical. In this talk, we explore how quantum programming can be made accessible to developers and why it may ultimately resemble programming conventional computers.
