Lynchings are not just part of a bygone era of radicalized violence towards Black Americans, they continue to happen today in our country with appalling regularity. In this panel, social justice experts aim to repositioning the way we address modern-day lynchings, civil rights and injustice in the 21st century by detailing the failure of law enforcement to properly investigate Willie Jones Jr, a Black male found dead, hanging from a tree in the yard of his then White girlfriend's house, displaying how this case represents larger, systemic obstacles that are ingrained in our justice system.
