In a few years, engineers will demonstrate the world’s first modern nuclear microreactor at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory. Microreactors represent a paradigm shift in how electricity is generated and delivered. As the name implies, microreactors are small, portable, and factory built. More importantly, they offer the near limitless ability to produce clean electricity to run neighborhoods, industrial factories, military bases, and other energy dense applications.
