Families are children’s first and most influential teachers. Their involvement in the early years leads to stronger outcomes, but many low-income families face systemic barriers to high-quality engagement, widening the achievement gap. The CPB-PBS Ready To Learn Initiative supports these families through collaborations between PBS stations and state-reaching organizations to enhance and expand engagement. This session highlights successful family engagement models with state libraries, workforce commissions, and public/private partnerships in California, Texas, and North Carolina.
