A skydiver's backup parachute accidentally deployed during a jump south of Cairns, causing him to become trapped and tangled on the aircraft's wing at 4.5 kilometres altitude. The experienced skydiver, on his 2,000th jump, had to cut himself free from 11 parachute lines before successfully landing in Tully, far north Queensland. The pilot also landed safely despite the aircraft sustaining damage and issuing a mayday call during the incident.
