Rate hike sparks inflation blame game in parliament

The Reserve Bank has increased the cash rate by 0.25 per cent, with economists warning more rate hikes could follow. The Treasurer defends government spending against opposition claims it has fuelled inflation, while the Coalition argues Labor's high government spending and policy decisions are driving up costs. A separate political dispute continues over Coalition unity, with Liberal leader Susan Ley seeking to suspend three National senators, including Bridget McKenzie, for breaching shadow cabinet solidarity rules.
