A midair collision between two light aircraft during formation aerobatics near Wedderburn aerodrome in Sydney's southwest resulted in the death of experienced pilot Eddie Seve. The two Vans RV7 aircraft were part of a four-plane formation flying group when they collided whilst coming in to land, with one plane crashing into nearby bushland while the second pilot, Ollie Geraghty, managed to land safely despite the collision. The tragedy has deeply affected the close-knit aviation community at the airfield, marking another serious incident at the same aerodrome following a hangar crash in May.
