The New South Wales government is considering introducing an additional public holiday on the Monday when Anzac Day falls on a weekend, with Premier Chris Minns consulting the RSL about the proposal. Currently, only the ACT and Western Australia provide this extra day off, while other states have varying arrangements. The hospitality sector opposes the move, warning that up to 75 per cent of their profits go on wages during public holidays and additional penalty rates could force struggling businesses to close.
