A major fire engulfed a Metro service station in Fairfield, Sydney's west, forcing residents to evacuate and customers to flee for their lives. Thirteen fire trucks and more than 50 firefighters battled the enormous blaze, which investigators believe may have been caused by a customer failing to turn off their ignition while refuelling. The fire destroyed the service station, a workshop and several cars, though no injuries were reported.
