With crime rising, more stores and homes are using fog machines to scare off and blind intruders.
For more, Smokeshield Security CEO Natalie Vogel joins.
The term smoke bomb. Well here's one for you. As crime rates saw across the country, some businesses are taking drastic measures to fight back against criminals. A growing number of stores are now turning to fog machines as a way to surprise, scare, and smoke out intruders. And they're not the only ones. Families are also fitting these to their homes in the bid to blind would be crooks. Amazing for more, Natalie Vogel, a smoke shield security CEO, joins us now live in Melbourne. Greats have you with us? So, Natalie, fog machines typically reserved for dance floors. Right, how does this one work?
This one's actually fantastic. It's actually a non toxic fog that gets released as soon as the perpetrator enters the protected area. So they come in and then they're blinded by fog within seconds. As well as we have a siren and a strobe that can also disorientate them further and they leave the premises empty handed.
I've got so many questions on this. The first one I guess is so it doesn't choke them? Does it?
Absolutely not. It's non toxic and food grades safe, and it leaves no residue, so there's no cleanup after the FOG's being deployed.
Right. Does it actually work?
It absolutely works. It works in ninety seven percent of cases. And it's the only product out there that is proactive instead of just being reactive capturing crooks after the fact. So as soon as that smoke and fog is deployed, they leave empty handed.
What about CCTV because we know the police particularly use the CCTV to track down some crooks and identify them. Does this become a problem.
Absolutely not. The fog usually just gets the crooks out of there, and they're often wearing ballet clavas, so it's very difficult to track them anyway. I guess for the retail owners, this is essential for them to not just save their assets, but also protect their people and their staff.
No, they're trying to find answers, aren't they. That's for sure with the crime rate only increasing. Natalie, thanks for your time, really appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
