Extreme heatwave grips Canberra and Queensland

View descriptionShare
Canberra experienced its hottest day in years with temperatures reaching 43.5 degrees Celsius in Canberra South. Towns in Queensland's southwest Channel Country recorded even more extreme conditions at 48.5 degrees Celsius, forcing one town to truck in emergency water supplies as the heatwave strains local resources. The scorching temperatures are forecast to remain in the mid-40s throughout the weekend, offering little relief to affected communities.
