E-scooter injuries surge among Queensland children

View descriptionShare
New research from Queensland Children's Hospital reveals one in four children seriously injured in e-scooter accidents require intensive care, with two-thirds needing surgery. Hospital admissions more than doubled between 2021 and 2024, with two-thirds of injured children not wearing helmets. Two children with serious head injuries died during the study period, and many survivors face permanent brain damage, particularly from head trauma requiring neurosurgery.
