CCTV footage captured a single shot fired into a vehicle's passenger door, shattering the window and narrowly missing the driver. A car connected to the shooting was later discovered burnt out in nearby Penfield Gardens, with police establishing a crime scene on Boomerang Street.

Tradies renovating a surveying company in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, discovered a hessian sack filled with old mining explosives in the backyard. The building was evacuated and a bomb squad was called in from Perth, more than 400 kilometres away.
