Doctors demand $35 billion healthcare injection

The Australian Medical Association has called for an immediate injection of nearly $35 billion to address Australia's rapidly declining healthcare system. The peak doctor's body says hospital spending needs to be fast-tracked over the next five years to tackle inflated elective surgery and emergency room wait times, plus manage an ageing population. Health Minister Mark Butler is scheduled to meet with state and territory counterparts on Friday to discuss the issue.
