Stage one of the Coomera Connector has opened to traffic in Queensland, providing a four-kilometre section of road between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Up to 57,000 drivers are expected to use this new route daily as part of the $3.4 billion infrastructure project.

Matthew Grutter, a South African national, has been deported from Australia after Immigration Minister Tony Burke revoked his visa following his participation in a neo-Nazi rally outside New South Wales Parliament. A gunman shot at a home on Henderson Road in Pooraka, Adelaide's north, prompting a police manhunt.
