The future of the Pine Rivers Uniting Church in Kallangur was facing an uncertain future due to a potential compulsory acquisition, with plans to build a special school on the site at 30 Narangba Road.

Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the new Moreton Bay South special school and the Pine Rivers Uniting Church will co-exist on the same site. 
 
“This is a magnificent outcome for the Pine Rivers community,” Minister Langbroek said.

Alex spoke to Chaplain Dony Johnson from Sports Care about the planning and preparation for chaplaincy services at the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

Dony has a background in sports chaplaincy, as well as chaplaincy support in high schools, music festivals and the RSL.

Sports Care is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals in elite sport, with a special focus on Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.

Chaplain Dony Johnson Preparing for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics

On July 21st 2026, Canadian worship songwriter Brian Doerksen lost his battle with cancer.

Brian was one of the defining worship songwriters of the 1990s and 2000s, particularly through the Vineyard movement. While he recorded many of his own songs, his greatest impact came because churches around the world sang them—often without realising he had written them.

He was most well known for the songs 'Come, Now is the Time to Worship' - his signature song which became one of the most-used worship songs globally during the late 1990s and early 2000s, and 'Refiner's Fire', one of the best-known songs to come out of the Vineyard movement.
