If you keep creating a budget only to blow it, dip into your savings or run out of money before payday, this episode is for you.

Because sticking to a budget isn't necessarily about having more discipline.

Often, you simply need a better system.

In this Start Here episode, Canna answers one of the most common budgeting frustrations: "I genuinely want to be better with money, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to stick to my budget."

Canna explains why so many budgets fail, the expenses we commonly forget to include, why looking at one month of spending can give you a completely inaccurate picture of your finances, and why your budget needs to evolve as your life and cost of living change.

You'll also learn the simple SugarMamma cashflow system Canna uses and teaches, in her new book that she co-wrote with Michael Thompson from Fear and Greed. You can grab your copy here:

• Why a budget should make your life easier, not harder
• The common expenses that quietly blow our budgets
• Why you need to look at an entire year of spending
• The danger of being too optimistic with your numbers
• Why money sitting in your bank account isn't necessarily "spare"
• The difference between a budget and a cashflow system
• How to use an Everyday Account for regular expenses
• How to build a Financial Float for quarterly, biannual and annual expenses
• How to automate your cashflow every payday
• How better cashflow can help you stop dipping into savings, avoid unnecessary debt and eventually create genuine surplus cash to invest

The goal isn't to become incredibly disciplined with money.

The goal is to build a system that requires less discipline from you.

Canna's budgeting and cashflow system is also explained in her new book, Twelve Months To Financial Freedom.
