On 9 December 2001, 60 year-old Michael Peterson called 911 to report that he had just found his wife, Kathleen, unconscious at the bottom of their staircase. But what seemed like an accident soon became increasingly complicated, as investigations found drugs and alcohol in her system, unusual blood-spatter evidence, and odd-shaped marks on her scalp. So much so, that we can barely cover the full extent of the mystery in a single episode.

So who, or what, killed Kathleen?
