On the morning of 15 March, 1970, 131 passengers boarded Japan Air Lines Flight 351, a routine domestic route between Tokyo and Fukuoka. But just 20 minutes after takeoff, and while cabin crew were getting ready to serve the on-flight meal, a young man stood up from his seat, drew his katana and called his comrades to arms. Soon, 8 others would stand up brandishing various weapons, and thus commence with their grand plan: to hijack the plane and join forces with Communist military groups in Havana, Cuba. Except, things didn't exactly go according to plan.
