On a snowy January day in Tokyo in 1998, 22 year old Tomoaki Hamatsu would leave his apartment full of hope and ambition as he headed for his first TV audition. To his surprise, he was chosen out of a group of 20 or so candidates, and quickly taken away in a van. Despite any lack of detail or explanation, Hamatsu eagerly complied on his big opportunity, only to shortly after find himself naked in an apartment room; the unwitting star of one of Japan's most infamous TV shows.
