ezlyn talks one on one with callers about how to stop making excuses and organize. Tap in as she points to real examples with a tough love approach.
Yeah, I.
Don't want to ask your question real.
Let's just keep it real straight shout with no chase. I'm gonna get a little bit rougher. I'm here for those who really believe in the American process, all of us. Street shot no chase with your girl Chessel figure out on the Black Effect podcast network at work. I'll take one more person. I guess Jay g was next.
Okay, you know, Peach, Peach, what what's going down?
Hey babe, are you how are you doing?
Peace to everybody in space? I had a question for you. We have in a rally. Oh, it's called a reparations demonstration the fifteenth. I watched the DC at the Lincoln or Moyle. I'm more I'm more like on a I'm more as I consider myself like or on the ground person.
Which is galvanizing it and getting information out to the people. And you know, I've done a lot of events down here in Florida, you know, me and my team.
You know, we call the FRCC Florida Reparations Compliance Committee. And one of the things we own it and to focus on is is getting the message out to the people. As far as getting on you know, rowed up and excited about reparations because I feel like, you know, you know, hearing you talk and stuff like that. I feel like one thing that I've noticed, as far as like being on the ground in comparison to maybe like the Arab community and different things like that, as I feel like that they're more of a monolitht when it comes to certain things.
Yeah, that's not true. It's just a matter of you have to find so you know, like you're saying, getting people excited and all of that. If anything is a monolith, Black people are monolift because they vote ninety percent loyal to the Democrat Party more than anybody. So no, they're not a monolith at all. It's millions of people in Michigan. They only had to find one hundred thousand that agreed with what they wanted to push forward. What we do is can you still hear me?
Exa?
What we do is we give up and so we'll see people who ain't really organized as for real, they don't understand that you may have to knock on thirty doors to get one and after everybody all men, ain't nobody win' on the same page. This was wrong with us? Don't nobody want to work together, and they throw the brochures and run off like somebody stole their bike. You have to find And we talked about this in the push the line of training. It's not about we, it's about me. It's not about no monolith. It was only let's look at the population in Michigan. Let me just google this right quick one second. Don't let the negative stereotypes that you hear and start believing that it is ten million people in Michigan. Can you still hear me? Okay, so everybody turned into your neighbor and say ten million, they only got one hundred thousand. They didn't even get a one percent didn't even get a million. It doesn't take a lot. Many of you may not be believers of the Christian faith, but in the Bible they talk about not needing ten thousand people in the army. They only needed three thousand, three hundred. They dumbed it down and said, the rest of gott home long because we don't need you, you a bunch of people to all be on the same pay. We spend so much time saying we gotta get on the same pay, We gotta get on the same pay, We gotta all come together because that one person don't never want to do the work. When I went down to Flint, Michigan, I told my teammates to stay at home. I didn't want them to come with me because I knew I was gonna hustle and I knew they wasn't and I didn't want them to get no no shine. When I did push the line. Marcellus is right here in real time. He worked with me in real time. He knows that the my co organizers were not organizing love to death, but they were not getting people in that room. I text, and there's two other people that was here actually at that train, and I can see in the room now. Jade and Juicy were literally in that room. They know damn well. I text everybody at least five to seven times. I didn't just depend on going on the breakfast club. Oh everybody. When I went to the breakast club, I got like a thousand some people. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I wanted, I wanted, I wanted, I wanted, I want it. Then when I started texting them saying well it's gonna be in a landa, well it's gonna be the people start falling off like flies. It literally took me texting. People didn't even know it was me texting. I was blowing that shit up. You either gonna reserve, are you gonna get off my text line? People was getting upset, saying, uh, I'm just gonna unsubscribed. Well unsubscribed then, because you either gonna confirm are you gonna get your ass up out of here? Marcella's right here in this thing. That's what I'm saying. Guys, y'all just gotta get around real grinds. You just ain't around real grind Marcella's right here, the co hosting this right here. Young in his twenties, Uber driver was pulling up on people in his neighborhood saying, matter of fact that telling Marcello's calm down, you're gonna end up gonna get your ass shot out here, basically threatening people you either come to the training or don't never call me. In life, I had to have many conversations on Marcel's say, Marcel's calm down, everybody don't want to come to the training, Well they if they, if they rock me, they should be come to the train. No, Marcella's you can't get mad because your cousin don't want to come on the train. Marcello's was going live on a daily basis, one but two three people watching Marcell's. He didn't give a damn. He was sitting there looking crazy as ever, sitting in that car. One time he had the blinker on the blinker sound on Sunday. Can you still hear me? Because it's stories, it's hilarious. He had to blink, you know how you turn your blinker to turn, you know, And one time he pulled over literally and you could just hear the blinker click click click click click click, and Marcella's stood there staring at that camera with that click click click click click click click click, saying that if don't nobody come to that training, don't never call him in life, don't on there but emailed text. Right, it's a wrap. I had to because you know why, So Marcella's sat there looking crazy as hell. I had to call him and say, Marcella's you can't be pulling up at people's house and tell them to get down and lay down. You know why he did that because I told him, I said, marcellis because he thought he was doing something. Because see I'm quick, I bring the best out of your baby. That's why this is just tough love talk. I bring the best out of it. I said, Marcel's you live in Georgia. Why you can't get ten people to come? You can't get ten people to show up in the room. You living in Lanta, you can't get ten? He said, Well, shit, I ain't never thought about it like that, but I do. Guy, I gotta find me ten. Boy, that young man went high and low looking for ten. See, this is what organizing is about. Baby. It ain't about we gotta be a monolithic. We all got to talk. I told everybody on my team, give me ten people. I need you to give me ten. One of my partners, oh man, he the best at that talk game. He said it in front of everybody. Ain't line. Jade and Juicy was right there. Let him come on up and test it by. He had to take straight up. Hey, Tesla did this even though he even though he was from Atlanta, even though he had all the contacts, even though he said he was this and that he was over our black party. But when it come to that, organized and I organized my socks off. You have to just know how to organize. I told him I needed twenty five people. In that room. And I will forever remind him that he did not get twenty five people in that room. And it don't matter to me and he my brother. I love him to death. Doctor West. He show up at Jez Snowball every year. Why you can't get twenty five people in the room. We had a major fallout over that. Everybody on my team need to get twenty five people in a room. Christy Williams from Oklahoma City, she brought five or six people with her from Oklahoma on their own dime. Y'all can't tell me what people ain't willing to do. You just have to keep turning over those rocks over and over and over and over. It's ten million people in Michigan. They got one hundred thousand people to show up. I watch y'all organize. Y'all organize all time. Hundreds of y'all put money in to build y'all build museums, y'all be ad. Y'all did that hip hop documentary. Y'all got the base right here, so just put it on. This is all I'm saying. Rahiem I man him in Atlanta, he showed up four five six DVDs documentary one two, three, four, five, five and a half coming next, six after that, seven twenty. So why y'all can't do this? It don't take a bunch of y'all. It don't take stop believing that when we gotta get it together, we gotta be a monelivet other communities. No, baby, it's ten million people that got one hundred thousand people to show up. That means you may have to knock on four hundred thousand doors. Are you willing to do it? That's all it is. Are you willing to do it? That's it. You have to cast a wide net. It's not just sitting up talking on Twitter. It's not just hashtagging. You gotta go knock on them damn doors. Knocking on them doors ain't no joke in Florida, Babe. You gotta knock on them hot ass doors. People don't want to do that. They don't want to do the work, that's all. People just don't want to do the work. They like saying they outside, or I'll be outside for two or three hours and no, come show me. Out organize me. You can't out organize me. That's the bottom line. You can't out organize me. It's Friday night. I'm a mom. I got shit to do too, y'all the only one got shit to do. I'm off this week. Breath cup still gonna get this news though. So in day bab, you just gotta get with some hustles, that's all, don't it. Don't take a lot, it really don't. Campaigns the people that run campaigns is always on a small scale. You know what I'm saying. It's never a bunch of people. It's just a few. You just gotta keep knocking on them doors, and y'all get discouraged, that's all. No, but they be together. They ain't together. If they only got one hundred thousand, Well, what happened to the open men? How many people? Millions of Uh, let me look and see how many a ras? Let me look up so I can get exactly we know it's ten million. Yeah, two point one percent arib Americans in Michigan. All two point one percent didn't show up. They just wasn't found the ones that would. Does that make sense?
Yeah, yeah, that makes sense, that makes sense. I mean, you know, anytime I'm gonna catch your space, you know, you know, you know, Jay, send me to space. Any talking I gonna catch your space. Always come in here, you always, you know, drop a lot of gymps.
Yeah, let me give you the exact numbers, baby. Three point seven million Arib Americans are in Michigan. So let me give you the exact numbers. Three point seven million Arib Americans live in Michigan. So they only got one hundred thousand, or mean to make sure that's Michigan. I don't know, that's national. That's national. My apologies. Five percent, five percent of the of their population lives in Michigan. They got a so okay, one point one six soul who identify as Abra American in Michigan. They only got one hundred thousand. See, while y'all sitting around, you know, people saying we gotta get all we gotta get all one million to show up. No, no, no, they just got one hundred thousand. That that did what needed to get done. It's not like the candidate uncommitted as a real candidate, you know what I'm saying. They just sent the message. It's called a messaging campaign. Now the media has to take them serious. Joe Biden have to take them a little bit more serious. Now they know Michigan is won by margin. Guys like two percent, one hundred thousand people can throw off a whole election, So they got to take them serious. They're not scattered out everywhere all over the country talking on Twitter space. They condensed in one area. Say we're gonna focus on one area and we're gonna show you we mean business. And I'm telling you, y'all can do the same thing because you have all the tools to do it. You have the money, the resources. Because I watch y'all raise money overnight. I watch y'all come from all over the country to go to rallies, to go to my training. Y'all get up and come all over the country. Every time I'm on a Twitter space, y'all say, y'all got a cousin that lives somewhere. So where is these cousins y'all talking about that live everywhere? So it's not that y'all don't know that you got the muscle and the hustle to get it done. So that's it. It seemed like they are monolived. No baby, ain't no monal It ain't never gonna be one hundred percent of one people on one page. You just need the right people to make some noise. That's it. So all the time that you're spending getting people motivated and excited about it, if you don't have a direct action, people need an action, call like they need something to do. You know what I'm saying, Like we need you to do this November fourth. You know you got to have give them something to do. It's not about just being excited. Arab Americans. They they more than excited, passionate, and they mean it. And they showing these people they mean business, willing to go through a wall, they mean it. They're not just excited about it. They're making their voice heard literally on the ballot. Let me say it again for those who just join it. I'm not talking about behind a candidate. I'm talking about a ballot initiative every state, or not every state, but look into which one of these seven states that you can get on the ballot, or even even if y'all got let me make it even easier for you for the states that have the blank the right end organize a write in campaign. Raheem, y'all should be saying, we need y'all to write in reparations. But guess what, rahim it can't just be random, right ends everywhere. The numbers ain't gonna add up. You gotta pick a state you want to do it in. You follow what I'm saying, Rain, You got to pick a state. You can't just get into the space, say everybody go right in because it's not gonna be enough numbers. It's not gonna you know, it's not gonna cover it. Y'all gotta identify state and have it. Everybody do it. They're so it can be concentrated. So you can say twenty five thousand rode in, fifty thousand rode in, one hundred thousand roaded in the news that pick it up. Let them know you mean business. Organizing is about consolidating and concentrating in one area. It's not about all over the place. That's not how organizing works. It's not about y'all know I'll be telling candids all the time. Y'all know I don't toeld Myrsell's not about standing in a grocery store talking to random people. You're wasting your time. It's not about no candidate in Chicago coming in here talking to y'all all over the place. You're wasting your time. You have to concentrate. That's how it actually works in a system called voter action network. They only talk to the super voters. They're not even talking about you, even thinking about you, so you're not threatening them at all. They got a list of who to go talk to and they only talk to them, and they concentrate with them, and they talk to them two times, three times, four times, and they get them to the polls. That's it. They ain't even thinking about you. They wasn't even helping you in You weren't even a part of it. So saying I ain't going good good because we weren't looking for you. I've done the opposite though, because I've ran candidates who didn't have a chance in hell with super super voters. So we had to go talk to the people that were not, you know, regular voters, because we know she wasn't gonna get another of them candidates, so we had to go get the other candidates, which made our job much harder. Follow what I'm saying, Sonny, you're still.
There, Yeah, Yeah, I'm still here. Yeah, yeah, I was talking.
No, Yeah, I'm done, I was saying it.
Definitely, yeah, yeah yeah, Desine, it's hard, Tesla, man, I mean, you're dropping a lot of gyms.
You're given a lot of game.
This work is hard, baby, This work is hard.
It's hard, man, It's hard to get everybody.
It ain't everybody, but it ain't everybody. I just told you you don't need everybody to do a ballot initiat account. I just gave you one thing to do. You don't need everybody. Who is everybody you're talking about? Get three hundred people. I'm giving you a real number. What everybody y'all talking about? You'll never get everybody? What everybody I just gave you. I just want a whole tutorial. They didn't try to get three million on board. They got a hundred thousand people. It's not hard, well, it is hard. It's hard work. That shit is hard. Welcome, it's hard. That's why I be so aggressive. All man tells you aggressive yet because people ain't willing to do the hard work. I'm not gonna tit up and be talking and playing with nobody. It's people in here now who don't like me sitting up here listening. That's right, listen. Being a student posture because at the end of the day, you can't out organize me. You can talk your ass off. Get on this to the space do whatever you want. You still ain't out organizing me. It ain't hard. Well, it is hard, but it's for people who have are called to do this. That's why y'all got to separate who's talking and who's really about this life. And if you just want to be around a bunch of people that's talking, cool, you are in good company because I see plenty of people who'll be talking over and over and over. I ain't to see you. I've done it, So you did it.
I'm I'm I know, I know you. I'm in the city right where you you're from.
So so then, baby, ain't no point keep saying it's hard. Bet you just got to get you two or three riders, that's it, and you just got to push through it. This shit hard. That's why I challenge people the way I do, because I know and they ain't gonna do it. They talk this ship all they want to, but in the day, she always talking at her receipts. You damn right out of him because you can't you damn sure, O can't you damn right. I'm gonna talk about every time because I got to separate me and you. I'm not dissing advocacy and awareness and Twitter spaces and posting links and having conversations. We need all of that. That's why I'm here. I appreciate what y'all do. I'll rock with you. I watch what you do. That's important. But you're missing the most important ingredient, the most important greed ingredient. Y'all said, y'all didn't believe in protests, y'all didn't believe in rallies. But y'all be protesting and rally you know, you know why, because it is a very important part of it. It really is. I watch y'all for years talk about rallies and protest, rallies and pro All they doing is another protest. All they doing is another rally, and y'all rallying and protesting. Y'all ass off on the ground in the grass. Y'all didn't do rallies and protests. Well, you know what, guess what you have to It's a part of the part of the puzzle. Guys. You didn't have to like the other people that was doing it. You didn't have to like the things they were rallying for. But it's a part of it. Y'all talked about that for years, but yet y'all'm watching y'all do it. So now the next step that y'all done talked about for years is go ahead and start organizing and stop saying we can't have a leader because they're gonna come get the leader. Stop it. Somebody gotta be willing to be the one they gonna come get. Hey man, somebody gotta be willing to be the one they gonna come get. Somebody gotta be fearless enough to do it. Somebody gotta be willing to be docked. Everybody can't hide behind these twitter handles. Oh that's how we do it, though, We do it because that way they can't never they can't never catch us. We always moving, man, Knock it off. Knock it off. Who willing to doctor for the cause? You ain't not gonna move in target, ain't organizing, nobody, go do nothing. And I'm saying this to you in love because y'all got the skills, y'all really do you really really have the skills? All of them. This record y'all made about me and record, why y'all not doing that and running a campaign? You should be doing that and dropping that in Detroit. Detroit got a hell of a rap scene. This record making asses. Why y'all not doing that in Detroit? That's all Detroit do is make rap album y'all should be up there dropping an album every other week about reparations and telling people to go to the go vote for reparations in November. Sitting on here, I've been watching for years fighting each other, one group mad at another group, another group mad at another, all these different acronyms, this one, dad one, all of that kind of saying, man, please, I grew I was with the Homies for those who follow on Instagram. No, I was with the Homies just last week. I know pirules that get long better with crips. We had pirules and crips at the funeral. I don't know what this whole gang banging shit y'all on over. I don't understand none of this. I really don't. I grew up a real gang bangers, so I don't know nothing about. They get along, they organize, they get shit done, like all of this, this, this, this group against that group. Whole bunch of people ain't never met each other in life, more than likely ain't gonna meet each other. Looking at cartoons avatars like on damn PlayStation. To me, it's just like a big damn PlayStation, just people playing. And it's not that you're not passionate. It's not that you don't love what you're doing. It's not that you don't world reparations. I know you do, guys, I get it. That's why I'm taking my time because really I'm need to be going to happy hour with you be told, But I take my time over and over and over and over and over because I watch y'all have the skills. You have the skills. It just can't be just Twitter, and it can't be just a rally. And after the rally, I hope one of y'all get inspired enough to run a ballot initiative campaign. And I done gave y'all the game, and y'all read all these books and all these scholars, and y'all quote all the so y'all don't nobody know how to go down and figure out how to do a ballot initiative campaign in Michigan. Y'all confused and lost. Y'all too smart for that, guys, too smart for it. I look at what y'all all, y'all do, is sit on here. Quote what such as Us said from I was reading, brother such and such and nineteen eighty two once said, and let me read from the passage. Y'all stay reading from passages. So I know y'all know how to read. I'm teasing Iane because he always reading from something. I don't know if he in the building or not, but he can listen to he can. He stayed reading from something let me read. And it says this. He stayed reading like Moses in the Bible. And it says this John five one. It says that he liked the deacon. He stayed reading something I was reading the other day. He does it so eloquently. I was reading the other day from the book of Eli, and Eli said this, and let me read thou shall not. You know, he stay reading, So I know somebody in here know how to read. So let's get I'm just messing with you name. I don't know if you in the bed and he do. But that's a reading brother, though. But plenty of y'all, y'all do plenty of reading. One thing this group. One thing this group now I do is do some damn reading. But y'all stay reading, y'all, stay reading, y'all stay quote I learned so much from you, guys, I really do. I don't know it all because I learned a lot. I learned a lot about history. I listened a lot what you have to said, Listen to to what terqu has to say when it comes to history, and there that brother, breakdown this one, and that said that one, this one that that shit is man like. I am very impressed. So I don't want you to discount any I'm not discounting any of the things you guys do. I just want you to have that one extra little thing, that one actual little thing is that makes sense. Put a one hundred if that makes sense to you. Guys. I'm gonna keep on giving you this love. I need to see some one hundreds and we'll wrap it on up.
Hey, I ask you a question, Yes, sir, I just just give it to me, Give it to me, Rod straighten and chase it just like.
I don't know no other way to do it.
I already know, I already know. I'm I'm an actually a real serious question task you know what I'm saying. How many people? How many Black Americans do you think that are passionate about reparation?
It don't matter find you three hundreds, like, just let's just be honest, and I'm going to be honest. It don't matter. Find you three hundred. You keep want to go back to that talking point. I'm keep getting you off there, talking point. You focus on the wrong thing. Find three hundred. When I did push the line, I was sitting around saying, well, how many do we think want to come? I found the ones who want to come. You gotta keep you gotta stay off there, brother, stop worrying about that number. I'm telling you, go get three hundred. Let's start from there. Okay, go get three hundred and and go sign up, Go put reparations on somebody balltle somewhere and see if you can get three hundred to go check the box. Let's start there. Let's do that first instead of have instead of having your another tutorio about how many we think of passion, and go get the three hundred that are you gotta go find them. I don't know you tell me go knock on the doors. I just gave you a bunch of examples on how I did it. All you do is interchange is the formula doesn't change. Baby. So when I wanted to get three hundred when I wanted to get three hundred people in the room, because that was my goal, because that was the last time I got three hundred people when I did volunteers back in Orlando, and I needed to make sure y'all know I could do this for real, and I ain't just talking. I didn't sit around and say, well, how many do I think. I kept digging until I got them. I went live every day on Instagram, ten people at a time, fifty people at a time. Every day. It's three or four witnesses right here that can tell you I went every day. Hey, y'all, text, push the line, text, push the line, text, push a line, text, push a line. I didn't miss a day. I emailed. I followed up after people told me, oh yeah, I'm coming, cause see I know the games people like to play, just like it's games. People coming in here to act like they support me, they really don't.
I know.
Half of the people that signed up really ain't coming for real. They just signing up to feel the sea something. No, baby, you ain't gonna do me like y'all did y'all rule. You ain't gonna get to sit up here and act like, oh, we're gonna make her think we coming. We ain't coming. Surprise. I'm from the streets, baby, So if one hundred and fifty people tell me they coming, I'm gonna go get five hundred to make sure I got one hundred and fifty. You see what I'm saying. It's a numbers game. You have to hustle. You have to hustle. It is that plaining in that simple Stop worrying about how many is it? Then go find them. You tell me when you find them, you give me the answer. You keep trying to get out of finding them, and I'm telling you you can't get out of finding them, baby. That's it. That's gonna keep being my answer every single time. It's a numbers game. When everybody got in that room, I told them, hey, y'all, did y'all know that was me texting an email? And they know it was me cause I was texting back. It wasn't no automated system. I was texting back. People was asking questions and I was texting back in real time, So that wasn't no damn robot. Well who y'all think was sitting behind the damn text?
It was me?
Damn So I wasn't Marcelli's and Christy and Michelle and West.
It was me, just me.
Because y'all wasn't gonna play no games with me. Rsb paying And then it ain't nobody showing up having me look a fool. I wish I would No. I started challenging people. Marcella's give me ten people, Michelle, give me ten people, Christy, I need ten people. An email ain't enough? Well I sent the email out that ain't enough, calling that had major fallouts. I'm like, and they still didn't do it. But it's still I still have. You got a challenging people around you, don't worry about it. I'll do it. Then, everybody, I said, share it. I need you to share it. I remember Gary Chambers. It was taking him a little bit too long to share it, So I reached out. What was happening, Homy, what's up with to sharing your You're button off? Like? What what's going on? Are we getting around to it? Hey? Well make sure make sure you get around to it, because when you need something from me, I'm gonna be getting around to it. I need that share And what's happening with that share? Like I'm telling you it's aggressive.
You.
It's organizing. Ain't no joke, y'all. I'm telling you. That's why why y'all think i'll be talking about By the way, I'm really sweet in real life. Just so y'all know, I'm sweet as it come, y'all. I buy drinks. Everybody, we kicking, We have good time, like you'll following. But when it comes to this organized, this girl, I organized sucks. I organize my socks off rund y'all want to hear about that. I need that share today home me straight up and U and don't have fast share it. So when you can, when you can buy and all of that. That's how you get your number. You gotta get your win number.
Nah, I appreciate that. I think. I think. I think three hundred.
You know I think three I do I do you even better? Get a hond? Can you start with one hundred?
Can you get As a matter of fact, next time you do a space, I'm gonna have an update for you.
Okay, Well how about this? How about you get the update and you open up the space and invite me because I want to make it. See, I got it. I'm real good at helping people get rid of excuses because see then it'll be well, I never did it because you didn't get no space. So let me help you out with it.
Yea with it.
