On this episode of Stock Movers:

- Super Micro Computer (SMCI) shares rose more than 15% in extended trading after the server maker issued preliminary quarterly results saying its order backlog rose to a record in excess of $60 billion. Fiscal fourth-quarter revenue will fall on the low end of the previous guidance of $11 billion to $12.5 billion, Super Micro said Tuesday in a statement. Sales have surged for Super Micro’s servers fitted with Nvidia Corp. chips for artificial intelligence workloads. But the shares have declined 13% this year through the close, including a 28% fall on a single day last month after the company announced a plan to raise $7 billion through a package of equity offerings.

- Danaher (DHR) shares fell despite reporting profit growth in its first half, with net earnings of $1.90 billion, up 26% from a year earlier. Sales advanced to $12.22 billion and diluted earnings per share rose to 2.68, with the company raising its full-year adjusted diluted EPS target to a range of 8.45 to 8.60.

- Northrop Grumman (NOC) slips about 3%, snapping two sessions of gains, as a lower effective tax rate helped fuel the defense contractor’s second quarter earnings per share, which beat estimates. The Virginia-based company boosted its year forecasts, saying on the earnings call that management anticipates mid-to-high single digit year over year sales growth in the third quarter
