- Sandisk (SNDK) is up as much as 17.6% on Thursday after the company provided long-term targets at its 2026 investor day. The stock broke above the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level, measured from the June high to the July low, and approached its 50-day moving average. Shares of other memory-linked names rose as well: Western Digital +10.7%, Seagate +6.4%, Micron +7.3%

- Workday (WDAY) shares jumped after a Reuters report that private equity firm Silver Lake is in talks to purchase the software provider. The private equity firm has been in discussions for several months about a takeover of Workday, which makes software for business tasks such as human resources, Reuters reported Thursday citing unidentified people familiar with the talks. There is no guarantee a deal will occur, the newswire said. The shares jumped 26% to $220.50 before they were halted for volatility. Workday has been one of the software companies whose business has been threatened by artificial intelligence startups. The stock had dropped 18% through Wednesday’s close.

- Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ) shares tumbled after Pershing Square Inc.'s chief investment officer said the asset management firm has sold its stake in the car-rental company. Pershing lost confidence in Hertz's management after the firm announced a funding plan that "we did not think was necessary," said Ryan Israel. The stock drop snaps an run-up for the stock over six sessions as of Wednesday's close, with Hertz's stock having seen wild swings over the course of 2026.
