A dead lab worker. Nearly 200 people under observation. And questions about whether plague escaped a Russian laboratory. Reports of a possible spill in Siberia are raising alarms—but neither the spill nor pneumonic plague has been confirmed. Russian authorities deny a laboratory accident.

Here’s the concern: If this was pneumonic plague, did anyone catch it before authorities stepped in—and then board a plane? That’s how a local emergency could become an international problem. This disease can kill quickly without treatment, but antibiotics can save lives. So far, there is no confirmed international spread.

And with the midterms weeks away, you know what I’m thinking: We watched politicians use COVID to expand their power and change election rules. Could another health scare become another political weapon? In my view, that question deserves scrutiny. It doesn’t prove this suspected incident was planned—but watch how politicians respond.

Today on Stinchfield: What happened inside that lab? Did authorities move fast enough? And what would tell us the danger has crossed a border? We break down the unanswered questions—and why the world needs clear answers from Russia.
