Steelers GM Omar Khan joined the show. Omar shared stories of his time in New Orleans. Omar talked about Arthur Maulet asking for his release yesterday and said it was a spot that made sense for both sides at this point. He raved about the idea of competition. Omar said he likes what the Steelers have at outside corner with players like Patrick Peterson and the potential of Joey Porter Jr. He said trading the 32nd overall pick was “very likely” if Porter was not on the board. Omar got into what kind of players the front office looks for when it comes down to finding the right fit. The guys asked about what he sees in Kenny Pickett and what gives him the best chance to succeed. Omar is confident that Darnell Washington brings a lot to the table in the run and pass game. Omar talked about if success running the football was more important than having a great passing attack. Omar said Pickett has the desire to be great and loves what his future could be. Poni wanted to clear up a draft rumor regarding what it took for the Steelers to trade up and select Broderick Jones at 14. Omar said the draft process was pretty similar, but they did tweak a few things with a more aggressive approach, also what it is like working alongside Andy Weidl. Omar talked about how being the general manager of a team is a dream come true and it goes back all the way to childhood. He credited Kevin Colbert as a great mentor. The guys told Omar about the amount of mock drafts we do as a show. Omar talked about what the Steelers could have in Calvin Austin, who missed all of last season due to injury, further adding that he feels very good about the entire WR group. Omar opened the door for adding another QB to fill out that room. The guys asked Omar about a Mike Tomlin contract extension. They finished off with a little golf discussion.
