Penguins insider/historian Bob Grove joined the show. Bob talked about the never-ending injuries of Tristan Jarry and if he’s worthy of another contract after this season. Bob said Ron Hextall is in a very difficult position because he’s trying to get another cup run out of the core while also worrying about the future. Bob still thinks the Pens will make the playoffs even if Casey DeSmith is the man in net the rest of the way. Bob said the offense needs to take advantage on more of the chances that they are getting. “I don’t see any way, shape or form that the Penguins can beat Boston, New Jersey or Carolina in a 7-game series. I just don’t see it.” Despite thinking the Pens will get in, he doesn’t see really any shot of them winning a series. Bob thinks it will be difficult for the front office to move any of the big three pieces because they gave these guys new contracts that included a no-trade clause. Bob said the big off-season priority has to be finding a new goaltender.
