300: Christina's Updates on Business, Brand...and Babies

Do you think you're "not creative"? Or are you afraid of showing your creative self? I hear you! In this episode I am so excited to introduce you to author, illustrator and all-around creative powerhouse (and my good friend) Alyce Verheijden. She recently finished and published her debut book, The Patchwork Girl, a visual poem about learning to accept all the different parts you - and not 'editing' or 'streamlining' yourself to be more palatable to others.

Alyce and I sat down in The StudioPod to talk about the inspiration behind the book, what she learned about herself, and the challenges of taking on a large creative project. You'll also learn why we are ALL creative, why playfulness is a practice (not a personality trait), and ways you can learn to embrace all your parts - not just the ones you think are 'acceptable'.

If you've ever felt like you have to pick a lane, professional or creative, serious or playful, or you want to bring more creativity into your life, this conversation will absolutely inspire you!

306: Creativity, Playfulness & Embracing Every Part of Who You Are with Alyce Verheijden

Why were we never really taught HOW to work? It’s a question we ponder in this episode with my fabulous guest Liz Mackevicius, a former urban planner turned leadership coach who now helps professionals build clarity, confidence and momentum in their work. Liz brings a grounded, practical approach to leadership, shaped by two decades in corporate roles and by her other life as an ultra-endurance trail runner - we’re talking massive 50 to 100 kilometre races!

In this episode, you'll learn:
The real difference between being busy and being productive
How mental load builds up, and a simple way to offload it at the end of each day
What "purposeful momentum" means and how to build it into a packed week
How to have difficult conversations (and the mindset required)
Why treating pre-event nerves as excitement (not danger) improves performance
Liz’s tips and tricks for working better without burning out
How Liz uses lessons from ultra-running to help clients manage their minds and find more success at work

305: Purposeful Momentum - Working Well Without The "Slog"

Have you ever felt pressure to follow a path that someone else laid out for you?

Whether it's cultural expectations, gender norms, or just the weight of "what you're supposed to do" — so many of us shrink ourselves to fit a mould that was never made for us in the first place.

My guest today, Paru Radia (AKA the C-Suite Whisperer), knows this better than most. Growing up in a conservative Indian household in England, Paru's life path was mapped out before she was born (ie "get married and become a housewife").

But Paru chose to be courageous, despite the fear. She eventually packed up her life and bought a one-way ticket to New York — risking being ostracised by her family. And it was that leap of faith and belief in herself that became a key part of what she now teaches her clients.

Today, Paru advises CEOs and C-suite leaders at organisations including British Airways, King and Spalding, and Indeed. She believes that you cannot lead well, communicate well, or influence others well, until you truly know yourself.

In this episode, you will discover:
Why even the most senior executives are still in survival mode — and what that means for how you communicate with them
How going against cultural and gender norms shaped Paru's approach to leadership and influence
Why knowing why you want what you want is more powerful than just chasing a title
How to spot your own natural strengths (even when they're completely invisible to you)
The one mindset shift that makes fear feel manageable — and helps you take bold action anyway
