Spotlight: William F. Moran, Jr. Museum and Foundation

William F. Moran, Jr. or Bill Moran (May 1, 1925 - February 12, 2006) was born in Frederick, Maryland and is considered the father of the modern knife forging movement. He is credited with reintroducing the process of making pattern welded steel (the ancient process called Damascus steel).

Without a doubt, history will show that Bill Moran was the most famous bladesmith of the 20th century. His accomplishments are well documented in many books and articles.  His knives are highly sought after by celebrities and heads-of-states.
