Moana Pasifika captain Ardie Savea has claimed the Super Rugby Pacific player of the year title after establishing an unassailable lead in voting with two weeks left in the regular season.

This has sparked discussions about whether or not he'd work as an All Blacks captain.

The White Ferns have slumped to 1-1 in their T20 series against South Africa as they lost by 18 runs at Seddon Park in Hamilton this evening.

South Africa posted 177/5 and the Ferns got off to a strong start sitting at 63/2 after the powerplay.

However, regular wickets stifled their momentum and they were eventually bowled out for 159 in the final over.
