Cricket Australia is facing a loss estimated at more than $3 million from the two-day Ashes opener, due to missed ticket revenue.

A combination of Australian opener Travis Head's century and England's cavalier batting approach led to the match's completion on Saturday in Perth.

The White Ferns fell agonisingly short in their first ODI against South Africa on Sunday, the visitors needed a six of the final ball to win and they got just that.

They now are faced with a second ODI against the South Africans tomorrow at the Basin Reserve to keep their chances of winning the series alive.
