The idea that just won't die, the Auckland waterfront stadium, is back in the news this week.

With the highly publicised upgrades planned for Eden Park, a consortium has stepped forward, suggesting a waterfront stadium as an alternative.

And they promise it doesn't need any public money. Spokesman Michael Sage made his pitch to D'Arcy Waldegrave on Sportstalk.

Since it has been their home, they have won eight titles in 15 years, but they're set to move into the brand new One NZ Stadium that kicks off with Super Round on ANZAC weekend.
