The Crusaders CEO has apologised to 1 News's Thomas Mead on behalf of coach Rob Penney.

Rob called Thomas the c-word a little too close to a hot mic after a testy exchange.

The exchange was over whether Rob has a future at the club - so D'Arcy Waldegrave made sure to ask about that as well as the apology, when he spoke to Colin Mansbridge on Sportstalk.

Since it has been their home, they have won eight titles in 15 years, but they're set to move into the brand new One NZ Stadium that kicks off with Super Round on ANZAC weekend.
