Christchurch has been confirmed as a host city for the Rugby League World Cup at the end of next year.

The tournament was originally set to take place in Australia and Papua New Guinea, but the new Te Kaha stadium is set to host some high-profile double headers.

Otautahi Venues CEO Caroline Harvie-Teare joined Piney to discuss.

It will be held at Aoraki/Mount Cook and the wider Mackenzie district next March.

The White Ferns fell agonisingly short in their first ODI against South Africa on Sunday, the visitors needed a six of the final ball to win and they got just that.

They now are faced with a second ODI against the South Africans tomorrow at the Basin Reserve to keep their chances of winning the series alive.
