Live to Eat: Victor Tay (White Restaurant)

View descriptionShare

When you talk about food in Singapore, The Original Sembawang White Bee Hoon is very much considered as one of our uniquely Singaporean dishes that is part of our National Identity, much like Hainanese Chicken Rice and Chilli Crab. Originally prepared as a homely dish by the founder Mr Tay King Huak, the dish today has developed into a well-loved dish by all, that tastes anything but common, fully deserving of an identity on its own.

Founded in 1999, this business started as a hawker stall in Chong Pang Market. They moved to Jalan Tampang in 2000 when the market closed. The immense popularity of the dish, made customers call them the Sembawang White Bee Hoon restaurant instead of official name of You Huak restaurant. In 2013, they have officially rebranded to be known as the White Restaurant. Now the business is helmed by second generation owner Mr Victor Tay.
