In this never-released FBI recording from March 3, 1983, Dr. Charles Rattray and FBI agent Dave Callan go on a journey to deliver $250,000 to the old Dodger Pines Golf Course in Vero Beach, Florida, hoping to get back his 4-year-old son, David, who had been abducted from their home two days earlier.

Moments after Charles Rattray returned home, the kidnapper, Thomas Gordon Ross, then 48, ran into two law enforcement officers and shot himself in the head during a struggle. Ross told agents David was nearby in the trunk of his car where agents found him alive. Ross never recovered enough to face charges.
