When a judge released 25-year-old New Bedford resident Xavier Echevarria on $500 bail against prosecutor's witnesses, he fled to Puerto Rico, and District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn was vocally unpleased. During his return to the state, he allegedly threatened to escape again. Now a judge is deciding if he should be held without bail.
