Today, we feature Moreira (Chonguica) who was born in Matola just outside Maputo, the capital of Mozambique on the 13 of February 1977. His ambition was to become a musician, so he moved to Cape Town in South Africa, where he graduated at the South African College of Music with a degree in jazz performance and an honours in ethnomusicology in the year 2000. This where Moreira has established an impressive list of credits to his name. In March 2017- after five years of discussion, the long awaited album collaboration is here between our very talented Mozambican saxophonist Moreira Chongisa Chonguica and the lion of Africa, Cameroonians Manu Dibango. The album is to be released on Friday the 31st March of 2017 at the 18th edition of the Cape Town Jazz Festival. Moreira Shongisa, the last time I heard of Manu Dibango who was popular in Swaziland in the late 70ntees and now coming very strong, thanks to you and Lesley Wells who is now your Manager. The album is launched before Jazz festival and also played at the Jazz Festival with 83 year old Mano Dibango and 40 year Moreira Chonguisa.
