Just two days ago, Steppers released their debut 6-track album of jazzified, funkified goodness and we are so exciting to speak to two of the band members, lead vocalist and drummer Reg Auldist-King and guitarist Louis Allan to break down this fabulous project.

Episode 11 incoming!! In the show this week we welcome a truly multidisciplinary artist, Eritrean-Australian singer-songwriter, theatre performer and doctor from Nipaluna/Hobart... the wonderful Shewita!! @iamshewita

For fans of Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child and Kelela, Shewita combines elements of all of these artists and more, marrying early-2000s R&B-pop nostalgia with modern alternative R&B influences. Informed by the music of her childhood and musical theatre, Shewita creates considered lyricism grounded in the storytelling of the stage, and driven by infectious R&B melodies.

'CINS', the second single off of Shewita's debut EP(!!) came out last week and is an atmospheric and anthemic exploration of the doubt and friction that can accumulate in close relationships. Reena and Hannah sat down with Shewita to hear all about the process of creating and releasing 'CINS' and 'Too Soon', and the project to come!

This week we have the pleasure of being joined by Naarm-based, blues, roots and soul songwriter Caisha Sprout! @caishasprout

We are beyond excited to have her live in studio later tonight to speak about her most recent release 'Snake In The Grass'. This song combines soulful vocal layering and harmonies, with her blues and roots infused songwriting to create a warm and expansive sonic landscape for the listener. 'Snake In The Grass' also includes instrumentation, textures and melodies of Indian origins which bring even greater depth to the atmospheric layering of the song, while celebrating and honouring Caisha's cultural heritage.

With her breadth of performance experience, creative focus in storytelling, and finding a song's true sound and emotional core, this is an interview you don't want to miss!

Announcing the guest artist for Soul Food Episode 8... from our very own Dandenong Ranges, Chilean-Australian soulful storyteller and multi-genre artist, welcome Elaura!! @itsme.elaura

Having recently released her defiant 'That Ain't It' earlier in March, we are so excited to have Elaura on the show to discuss this new era! Steeped in 2000s flair and resilient lyrical power, this single blooms as a declaration of self worth, main character energy, and knowing and respecting your own boundaries. Anthemic and unapologetically bold in its tone, this new work conveys a cathartic narrative of release and honouring of the self. In melding latin and flamenco rhythms with modern R&B sounds across her discography, Elaura is intentional in her work and honours her Chilean heritage and voices that have come before her.
