Father Jonathan Duncan of the Diocese of Charleston joins Matt Swaim to reflect on the readings for the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, especially Peter’s confession of Jesus as the Christ and the Son of the living God. Father Jonathan explains why the question “Who is Jesus?” must come before every other theological, moral, or apologetic question. The conversation explores Jesus’ gift of the Church, Peter’s role as the rock, the papacy, and the reality that even those entrusted with leadership can become either “solid rocks” or “stumbling stones.” Ultimately, the discussion returns to the central truth of Christianity: if Jesus is truly Lord, then everything we do matters.
