How can a simple act of stepping towards someone in need transform both the giver and the receiver? On The Son Rise Morning Show, host Matt Swaim speaks with Rit Leslie and Paul Gastonguay, leaders of the "Cross the Street Ministry" at Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston, Maine.

Leslie and Gastonguay share how their parish outreach grew from delivering essentials out of personal vehicles to operating a mobile outreach van—playfully dubbed the "Pope Mobile" by locals—delivering coffee, hot cocoa, sandwiches, water, and seasonal care packages. Subverting the common instinct to "cross the street" to avoid those in need, they reflect on the Good Samaritan call to restore human dignity, learn regulars by name, and foster a broader community effort involving dozens of parish volunteers and local sponsors.
