Why did Jesus's first disciples—and so many throughout history—struggle to understand the true nature of His Messiahship and Kingdom? On The Son Rise Morning Show, host Matt Swaim welcomes back Cy Kellett, host of Catholic Answers Live, to discuss chapter nine of his book Teacher of Strange Things: Who Jesus Was, What He Taught, and Why People Still Follow Him.

Kellett breaks down why Jesus seemed "disappointing" to those expecting an immediate political or military overthrow of world empires. He contrasts worldly expectations with Christ's actual mission: transforming hearts, restoring sinners, and establishing His Church as the living presence of the Kingdom on earth. Kellett and Swaim also examine how the Church's sacramental life serves as the primary doorway into Christ's grace and kingdom, offering true liberation through patient, ongoing conversion.
