As one of the country’s best-known interior design experts and a television personality who has been a judge on The Block for 12 years, Shaynna Blaze is a busy woman. But last year, she surprised everyone when she appeared on The Masked Singer. Now she’s ready to pursue her passion for music even further – with an upcoming EP of new songs and a series of cabaret shows in the works. 

Shaynna sat down with Sarrah in the Something To Talk About studio for a wide-ranging conversation about why she keeps reinventing herself, how landing her job at The Block was one of the most bizarre moments of her life, her return to music - and why she refuses to act her age.

On the eve of a tour revisiting the 1994 album that would become a pivotal turning point in her career, Tina sits down with Something To Talk About for a no-holds-barred chat as she reflects on her beginnings as a child star (including the story of how she came to adopt her stage name), explains why she has never been afraid to speak her mind, calls out the “boring” narrative that pits successful women against one another - and reveals the heartbreak of being separated from her teenage son since the pandemic. 

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Don’t Ask, Tina Arena will head on tour in November 2024. She has also re-released a remix of Chains with Melbourne duo SHOUSE.

Something To Talk About: Emma Watkins on life after The Wiggles

It’s been three years since Emma Watkins left the Wiggles - an announcement that left children everywhere (and their parents) heartbroken.

It’s been three years since Emma Watkins left the Wiggles - an announcement that broke the hearts of children everywhere (and one that left plenty of parents upset, too).

Emma made history when she became the first-ever female Wiggle in 2013, but as she toured the world as the Yellow Wiggle, she was also carving out time to explore her other passions. She studied for her PhD, which explored creative ways to use sign language and dance in children’s media. Ideas were brewing, and though she knew she would disappoint her young fans, Emma also knew she needed to back herself. 

It was worth it: she has gone on to create a new and hugely popular alter ego, Emma Memma. She is running a business alongside her husband Oliver. And she is about to host a new ABC series that brought her back in contact with many of the children and families who had known and loved her as Emma Wiggle.
