View descriptionShare

In this episode of Solving Life’s Next Chapter, Lydia Wietsma interviews Sheryl Keeme, Executive Director of Neighbors Who Care, about the vital role this nonprofit plays in helping seniors remain independent in their own homes.

Neighbors Who Care is a volunteer-driven organization serving the Sun Lakes community. Their mission is simple but powerful: helping seniors age safely, confidently, and with dignity. During the interview, Sheryl explains the essential services they provide, including:

  • House visits and reassurance calls

  • Meal support

  • Transportation to medical appointments and errands

  • Grocery shopping assistance

  • Social connection and companionship

For many seniors, these services prevent isolation and delay the need for higher levels of care.

Arizona Charitable Tax Credit

The show also covers the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. Donations to a Qualified Charitable Organization like Neighbors Who Care qualify for a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit:

  • $495 for single filers

  • $987 for married couples filing jointly

This means your contribution directly reduces your Arizona state tax liability while supporting seniors in your community.
