Kinship: A Family’s Voice

View descriptionShare

Cultural warning: EmPauR would like to advise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander listeners that the following podcast may mention names of people who have gone before us into the stars and the dreaming.

In this episode, we take a deep dive into the idea of family responsibilities in caregiving. We look at the cultural and kinship duties that shape how caregiving works. We explore how traditions and values impact the caregiving relationship and how these responsibilities can strengthen connections between people.

EmpauR acknowledges the Gimuy-walubrra yiddi (Gimuy walaburra indinji) people whose traditional lands this podcast has been recorded on.

We pay our respects to the ongoing cultural connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to hold with the land, sea and wind.

Thank you to the guests and organisations that contributed to this episode.

The music is a Traditional Torres Strait Islander song and was played by a proud Torres Strait Islander man and well-loved family member, who is unfortunately no longer with us.
