UNESCO rejects rock art heritage application

UNESCO has rejected Australia's application for a World Heritage listing, two bodies found inside cairns home. Plus, a gunman is on the run in a regional town northwest of Brisbane.

I'm Christy Lloyd with your fast news update. UNESCO has rejected Australia's application for a World Heritage listing for the rock art rich Borough Peninsula in Western Australia. The international agency cited the industrialization of the area as its main reason for the ruling. UNESCO has referred to the application to the federal government. It says it will reconsider the decision if Australia can prevent any further industrial development and develop a rehabilitation plan for existing industrial work. Environment Minister Murray Watt now faces pressure to allow Woodside Energy to extend its LNG plant on the Northwest Shelf to twenty seventy. The Bruck Peninsula is home to more than one million ancient pieces of Aboriginal rock art. Two bodies were found dead inside a can's home. Emergency services were called to a Mount Sheridan High late last night. Police alleged the incident is a murder suicide. Neighbors report a ten year old girl who lives inside the home fled the scene, claiming their dad had shot their mum. A gunman is on the RUNI In a regional town northwest of Brisbane, police received reports of gunshots out of property in king Roy early this morning. It's believe the twenty five year old man is still armed and has fled in a black Suzuki Swift with false number plates. King Roy Hospital, the local Saint Mary's Catholic College and surrounding businesses have been locked down as police attempt to track the man.
