We need to understand why the reunion of One New Man consisting of Jew and Gentile is so important to God's Construction Project of a living Temple ( Home, House, Residence, Domicile) within specific people groups. Through His Son Jesus, all  Authority and Dominion is being reestablished so that mankind is empowered to rule and steward the material creation just as presented in the 1st two chapters in the Book of Genesis. It is the reconquest of earth itself from the Fallen Angel kingdom of rebellion. Ephesians Chapter 2 refers to the inclusion of the Gentile nations being brought into the "Commonwealth of Israel" and members of the Household of God. The 3rd chapter of Ephesians refers to Gentiles being fellow heirs of the promise of Christ Jesus all with the purpose of displaying the many-sided wisdom of God directed towards the rulers and authorities in the 2nd heavens. ( Namely that God has never changed His original plan that mankind possesses the legal permission (authority) to govern the earth.) 

Lastly the body of these combined believers would grow up from childhood to maturity by putting on the new self of God's likeness in true righteousness and holiness; (as contrasted with imputed righteousness only).

The rebellion against God by Satan's fallen kingdom ends when God's united Jewish and Gentile children through obedience to God's word in all matters produce truly righteous and holy image bearers impacting the world. Christ's last prayer at the Last Supper in John 17:20-24 prays that the Father unify both groups of Jewish and Gentile children into one unified body so that the world would understand and see why the Father sent the Son (Messiah Jesus) as the deliverer, uniter, savior, and reconciler of mankind from the fallen world's ruler.
