This year, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off celebrates 40 years of playing hooky and touring the streets of Chicago. Dan Goldrosen has created the “Life Moves Pretty Fast” walking tour on the day Ferris, Sloan and Cameron took their world famous “ditch day” on June 11th. You’ll tour the famous sites they saw including the Art Institute, the Flamingo, and the iconic parade site along Dearborn. Intonation Music is celebrating its 20th year in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood by providing young people with musical instruments and instruction. Students can play any instrument, from guitars and bass to drums. Students form a band and perform together and even learn singing and songwriting techniques. Finally, we meet two of the winners from Broadway In Chicago’s 15th annual Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA), celebrating excellence in high school theatre across the state. Logan Arroyo from Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort won Best Actor for his portrayal of Will Bloom in BIG FISH: SCHOOL EDITION and Jane Nuich from Maine South High School in Park Ridge won Best Actress for her portrayal of Eurydice in HADESTOWN: TEEN EDITION. They will represent the state of Illinois on an all-expense paid trip to New York City to participate in The Jimmy Awards. Jane and Logan talk to Andrea about what it means to know your passion so early in life, what it means to go to NYC and make their Broadway debut, and how they envision theatre being part of their lives in the future.
